My mind's made up....

It's - interesting how my mind works sometimes - I think my brain is like clay alot of the time - it's hard, stubborn, yet given a little time, it can easily accept the water of something new. So - I was talking about becoming a doula, and then I stopped talking about it - the clay needed a little time to accept this new concept.  I needed to mull and sleep on it - and now, jsut as naturally as breathing, I've made a choice. I'm going to get certified through DONA (Doula's of North America) attend a training in August, and hoefully be ready to start assisting at births by November. *grin*Grin*GRIN* I'm excited now - I really need to unpack my books so that I can figure out what I do and don't have - I've been 'gathering' up books for at least two years - so it will be interesting to see what I've collected.

I've also gotten hooked into several of the Memphis area childbirth/natural mommy groups, so hopefully that way I will be familiar with the women in the area who are part of the birthing community. gah - I'm still nervous though - but not in the least bit doubtful. *grins*

Off to order my certification packet/memebership/license plate!!

Monday ALREADY?????

Wow - this weekend really did fly by. We got a lot of unpacking done - the upstairs is done except for the books and our clothes - we need new dressers, and so clothes are packed/piled/stuffed EVERYWHERE.  Hopefully, this week we will get a chance to pick up something.  The waterbed is FINALLY filled (yaay!) and I think I may ahve had the best sleep of my LIFE last night - wow.

Let's see - what else is going on? I went shopping yesterday - couldn't find a SINGLE pair of sandals that I liked - which rather sucks. I'm going to find out where DSW is today, and maybe try to go there tomorrow night - tonight is grilling night, and I want to be home on TIME for that. *smakcs lips*

*grins* After my last infinitely long entry (that might be the first time that I've actually used up ALL of the characters) I'm kinda - bleh. Besides, it's monday.

ciao kittlings.

HAH! Ran out of space!

Ciao beautiful people - have a GREAT weekend!!

Okay - I think I'm done for now - maybe someone's updated. ..... ARGH! Only one person - prepare to be subjected to more surveys (and if you've actually read this far, you rock.... really)

uuurgghhh.....

So - over the last few days I have had the WORST indigestion - it feels like ANYTHING I eat or drink sits on my stomach, and after about an hour turns into a painful backache causing, bloated mess of ick in mah belly.  Ughha. And then - the only thing that I think will solve the issue (or at least this is what my brain/belly is telling me) is a lucious Greek dinner - but the best Greek place in town (and the one RIGHT up the street from us) (Melos Taverna) is CLOSED for renovations!! *waaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh* So - I'm going to haveto go to Mojo's and get me some tabuli and some hummus and some feta cheese and some yummmmylicious food in general *drools in delight*

Maybe it's the coffee - esp. considering that I feel like ick right now, and I haven't eaten anything since like *thinks* 7pm last night? Largely BECAUSE mah belly is all craptastic & stuff. *ugh* *laugh* I wonder if it's my bra just pressing down on my belly wrong - *sigh* I sooo need to make another Vicki's run and get some more of these fabulous bras - I think my favorites are losing their spring (or I'm just wearing one too long....).
Or maybe it's the sickeningly consistent diet of fast food that I've been having for lunch. I know it's a clear sign that I've been eating waayyy too much crap when the only thing that really sounds appetizing to eat is salad. or Greek - which is a variety of salads presented in a way that goes waayyyy beyond any run of the mill salad bar.

Bleh. Tums (as nasty as they are) would be LOVERLY right now.

I am God!

Which Recurring Kevin Smith Character Are You? Take the test here

*snork* I *heart* me some Kevin Smith. and ya know, I predicted this one right....... *sigh* Ah! Another thing for my 'to buy' list.
Ah - also must go to the Pottery Barn outlet this weekend! ooohhhh....tempting, tempting.

ooppss!!

As Torin so kindly pointed out ;) I never did write a 'real' entry yesterday.

Let's see - I worked a late shift yesterday (2pm til 10pm) and even though I wasn't very busy, I just didn't feel like writing - or maybe more accurately, I didn't have anything TO write. I still don't have much to write today (actually, I'm sleepy as hell as I didn't go to bed till 3am - that's the only bad side effect of me being able to sleep late during the week - my body wants to immeadiately switch to night-owl time) but....hmm.... let's do a weekend forecast, shall we?

  1. Unpacking/cleaning/filling waterbed

  2. Washing clothes

  3. Shopping - I think we will go house stuff shopping tommorow, and then Sunday I might try to go clothes/shoes shopping - I refuse to shop w/ C.

  4. I need to figure out a budget - I'm pretty sure we have more than enough luche, but considering the way we've been spending willy nilly, I need to figure out truly how much we have.

  5. Find a bank so that I can deposit enough money to cover my car loan/personal loan from the Lilly Credit Union....

hmmm..... I can't think of anything else off of the top of my head right now. C did most of the kitchen last night - after his interview, which apparently went REALLY well. I soooooooooooooo hope he gets this job - it's exactly what he wants, the pay is right, and it's convienent to get to from our house via bus.

What else? My brain is really ppppppppppppppsssssssssssssssssshhhhhhft today. Need coffee! ooohhhh.....coooofffffffeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee....................

My SHTUFF!!!

As in, I've FINALLY got it!!!!!  The movers came yesterday, dropped off all of our stuff, and the uncrating guy came, put together the waterbed, and unpacked our glass table tops.

The house is FULLA boxes everywhere, but I'm so thrilled that I really don't care. Me & the boy unpacked most of our clothes (he's got a business meeting today and an interview tomorrow - so he needed his suits!) and some of the bathroom stuff - then we stopped, went to Molly's for some Mexican, came back home and crassshhheeed. I realized that I really don't have that many summer clothes, and even most of the stuff that I do have is either a) too small (dammit!) or b) not appropiate for IP's dress code or c) both. And my shoes - I almost wondered if some were missing, but no - I just don't have any nice summer shoes - they are all left over from last year, and I'm ROUGH on shoes. So - shopping!

Have I said that I love our house lately? I figure tonight, we'll unpack the kitchen and finish the bathrooms. It's - odd - trying to figure out how to organize everything and where to put stuff and all that jazz - but fun. It seems like we have so MUCH stuff - and we don't even have any furniture, as we left our old icky stuff in Indy.

I'm busily putting together a list of stuff that we need - I hope that it's nice this weekend so that we can do some SHOPPING! We are actually going to hold off on the furniture for a little while - but we need bookcases DESPARATELY.  I refuse to go through the chaos of unpacking all of our books before we actually have enough places to put them.  And of course, we also need all of the 'little' stuff - what's a good cheap household goods store? I figure - ooohhhh! My old coworkers gave us an $80 gift card to TARGET!!! Never mind! I know exactly where we will be going - so where's the best Target, and is there a SuperTarget anywhere? Also - any recommendations for a cute furniture store? We have a modern/airy style, and I'm picky. ;)

The kitlings are loving having us home now - I really think that they thought we were going to abandon them, the poor dears.

*grins*  Me & C were talking yesterday about how this is really the first home that we've moved into that we can see ourseleves staying at for a pretty extended period of time. Everywhere that we moved to in Indy had a 'temporary' feeling, because we KNEW that we were going to be escaping the city - and even when I first moved there every place that I moved into was kind of  the best of the bad, and I settled for it for various reasons even though the places may have been lacking in one thing or another. This house is - perfect. We love the city so far - and *nods* we might ACTUALLY settle down here - imagine that!

Okay - had to spread/share the giddiness and joy - now back to work! :)

Weekender

Oh. My. God.

1) I have the stupidest cat EVER. Thursday night, we move the junk we drove down and the cats to the house. Friday, C is at the house for the cable guy to install, and he (cableguy) opens the doors upstairs and has to go into the attic to check that the cable works as there was something wonky going on. Anywho......C leaves to come & get me, and notices that Nikki (the stupid scaredycat) is no where to be found. Knowing that he didn't LEAVE the house, C figures he's hiding somewhere, and leaves to get me. We get back to the house (after making a stop somewhere - I can't remember where) and start calling for Nikki. I hear this PITIFUL little mew coming from upstairs.
*Pause so I can tell ya'll how the house is set up - kitchen & one big room downstairs with a fireplace. Two rooms upstairs - the one over the kitchen/first bathroom is fully enclosed, the one over the rest of the dining/living room is lofted in front of the fireplace. A light box is there, roughly at floor level of the second floor that has floresent lights in it. The 'wall' in the lofted area is a little over 3 feet high.*
I go upstairs, and as I'm going up the steps, I see a tail hanging over the edge of the lightbox. Well and good I think - he's jumped off the loftwall onto the light box, and the box isn't big enough for him to jump back up - simple, right? but nnoooooooo - I get into the lofted room, and SOMEHOW, this fool has managed to WEDGE himself (head FIRST mind you) UNDER the protective plastic covering OVER the lights, and the florescent bulbs themselves. Obviously, he's the skinny one - but *shakes head* soooo stttuuuppiiid. So it takes me & C about 15 minutes of convincing and moving the plastic shields to get this dingbat out of the light box. He was fine (I'm SOOOO thankful no-one turned the lights ON!!) just shivering cuz he was so scared and purring at the same time. *shakes head* So - his new name is Stupercat.

2) Hotel Room #2 is lovely - and is actually almost nicer than the suite place, as one can actually get ready in the morning without distrubing whoever is sleeping in the bed - unlike the first place. There is an empty restaurant on the ground floor, and C has already set up a meeting with the hotel manager/owner to see what it would take to open there. *crosses fingers*

3) I've gotten lost roughly 4 times going to and from work twice. I'm having a hard time switching my brain around to realize that the CENTER of this city is actually WEST of almost everything else. It only took me 30 minutes this morning - and I think that I took the longest, slowest way possible. However - that does make me think that me 'normal' commute won't be much more than 30 minutes - if not less.

4) I got my paycheck!!! But what's up with this 'all banks close at 4pm' crap? *sigh* I miss having a credit union. Rhally, I do. Anyhow - hopefully you can deposit stuff at the ATM. I haven't had a 'regular' bank account since college, and I'm looking for a credit union I'm eligible to join. This public banking stuff sucks. Holding checks and ish. *sigh* Maybe once I get direct deposit, it won't be too too bad.

5) Work has been - better. It's still slow as shit (someone is clipping their nails as I type) but - at least I feel a litte more engaged. I'm getting tasks and shit to do now, so - hoepfully, by the end of 6 weeks (start of week 3 here) I should be almost hunky dorky. I hope. *nervous*

okay - tis time for me to go home.....or at least to the hotel, then home. Hopefully. ;)

Tired....babbling

Well, we've started the move process. All of the crap that we drove down here with (cats, chemicals, food, vacuum and other odds and ends) are merrily stashed away at our new house! It took us almost until 11 to get all the stuff there and settled in, and to grab some dinner, but it's worth it. I hope the kittes aren't too traumatized by spending the night there alone.
I got our keys and a crapload of mail right after work, but since the hotel that we're staying in now is about 20 minutes from the house (and the other hotel) it was a LONG three (or was it just two?) series of trips back and forth. We're most likely going to go furniture 'browsing' this weekend, as I refuse to spend an extra dime that I don't have to until I get my damn paycheck (hopefully Friday or Saturday).

The Boy has the car today so that he can make the final transition from one hotel to another. See - this is the level of hope/trust I have with this man. Last time we switched hotels, he managed to leave one of my bags. As I'm sure that the incident (and my general pissiness as a result) are still rather fresh in my mind, hopefully, he'll go over the room with a fine tooth comb. Of course, I helped by piling damn near everything into a heap in the front room. *sigh&smiles&shakeshead* Men.

I'm SOOOOO glad it's Friday, even though it doesn't really FEEL like Friday- hey, I can switch my calendar. IP has these really cool foresty calendars  - but I'm innately suspicious of a companies PR efforts towards it's employees - and I haven't taken the time yet to see what their REAL environmental record is. I've heard that they replant - but I'm not sure what else they do to insure that the ecosystem remains as pristine as possible as they hack down trees. *sigh* At least it's not pharmecueticals anymore - *shakes head* they ripped people off in so MANY different ways.

I haven't gotten a good feel for the 'culture' here just yet. On our team there's a Blonde, a Wisecracker, a Whiner, a Pessimist, a Mom (who's leaving, dammit), a Condesender (and I'm sure I spelled that wrong), a couple of others who I haven't quite pegged yet, and me - Newbie. *flutters eyelashes helplessly* *snort*
I've accepted the fact that I know nothing about the business, and I suspect that half of my team doesn't either. We're techies, and technically (haha) don't need to know about the business - but I'm so used to straddling that stream that I feel rather - lost trying to solve problems when I don't understand what caused them. *sigh* anyhow.

Okay - this might be rude and rather insensative, but I would think that Catholics would be celebrating that the Pope is going to die - or at least kind of happy/excited. I mean - finally, he get's to be with his Lord - that's not something to greive over, esp. for someone in his position - right? Maybe they are mourning the soon to come loss of the man who is the Pope, rather than the death of the Pope himself. But really - how many of the hundreds of thousands of Catholics know that Pope as anything other than the Pope? I can understand and respect the grief of his family - but I would think that the rest of the members of the Catholic faith would be - energized, I guess.

Speaking of death (or the lack thereof) I'm so happy for Terry Schiavo that she finally died. Me & C have already talked and decided that we are going to write living wills - as I told him 'If you kept me alive under those circumstances, as soon as I died I would come back and haunt you for not treating me with the same respect and dignity you would treat a dog.'  But then, I've never been afraid of death - *shrugs* it's something that happens to all of us, and it never happens when you really want it to - we can't neatly ink in death to come and visit at a convienent time.
So, if I'm ever in a situation where part of my brain has been replaced by fluid, or I haven't truly responded to outside stimuli in over 5 years, I want the plug to be pulled and the morphine OD to be administered. I think that letting her starve to death was the cruelest thing EVER - whether she could feel it or not - what a horrible way to end your physical existence - and I wouldn't be the least bit suprised if a nurse or a doctor helped the process along a little.
Even if there is still hope - let me go. For the sake of those left behind who no longer have to endure a deathwatch. For the sake of my husband, who will never have a wife again - but who is still alive and still deserves to find love.  For the sake of my children (if there are any) so that they will remember their mother as a bright, vibrant, alive woman, not some wired up, intubated, unresponsive thing in a hospital bed. For the sake of my mother, who while enduring the horror of outliving your child, would at least also be able to remember me at my very best - alive. Not just breathing, heart beating, eyes twitching - but alive. Capable of response and interaction with the world. Capable of love. *sigh* I'm not selfish enough to demand that kind of devotion for endless number of years. Sheesh, even the insurance companies consider someone dead if they haven't been seen in 7 years - 15? *shakes head* I'd want C to suffocate me first. *sigh* I hope she rests in peace. And I hope her parents......well, I hope they have their wills in order.

Bleh. It's only 11, and I'm hungry - there was a launch of another set of mills this morning, and they brought in brekkie - really yummy breakfast sammichs from Chick-Fila. 'Eat mor chikin!' - was the sign in front of the box of sausage biscuits. *snicker* I think part of what's been irking me about this team is that is so damn tentative - and things move at a SNAILS pace. *creepcreepcreep* which I'm sooooo not used to - but then, my old would be considered a process team here, not an integration one. *shrugs* They'll get at least two years out of me - I want to see what the promotion/raise process is like, and I want to save up as much money as I can. I need to figure out how much money it would take for me to be able to take some time off - hmmm.... I wonder if they allow educational sabbaticals - I need to look at the homepage and see - that would be cool.

Hmm... I think I've gabbed enough. Maybe more later.
